Oowy Gooey 1 Minute Vegan Chocolate Mug Cake

I had a hankering for chocolate cake and found a quick and dirty one here.  I made a few tweaks, and its yummy!

One Minute Microwave Chocolate Mug Cake

4 Tablespoons Flour
4 Tablespoons Sugar
2 Tablespoons Cocoa powder (if you use hot cocoa mix, adjust your sugar)
1/2 Teaspoon of instant coffee (for added richness)
a few drops of vanilla extract
2 Tablepsoons Vegetable Oil
2 Tablespoons Water
Dash of salt

First, mix dry ingredients and set aside.

Second, mix wet ingredients.  Using fork, mix wet into dry.  Make sure to mix the bottom edges of your mug.

Set your microwave to high and cook for 1 minute (adjust 15 seconds more/less according to your microwave and your preference).  1 minute will make it very gooey.   Don’t cook over 2 minutes (you’ll get a block of coal).

Wallah!  You’re done.  Fresh yummy gooey cake.  Enjoy!

I also have tried and hated this cake aswell but I made it without the instant cofee and it was so dry and wasnt easy to stir a spoon in a mug

This was so yum! I left out the coffee, vanilla and salt and added an extra tablespoon of water. Cooked it for a minute and it was moist, rich and delicous! I half the recipe too – the whole thing is too much and it’s much less calories!

  7. Made it for my girlfriend! I likely screwed up, but she likes it!

I have been looking for a delicious mug cake recipe to pack up for friends for Christmas, and I HAVE FOUND IT HERE! SO delicious! And a few steps shorter than some others that call for an egg and some baking soda/powder. Thank you for sharing this.

Do the people who didn’t like it have any suggestions for something better? I’m excited to try this one, but hey, if you think it’s bad, let’s see what you got ;-)

I’d been looking all over for an egg-free mug cake.
I ran out of sugar halfway through, so I substituted 2 tbs candy cane white hot chocolate mix and omitted the coffee. I also didn’t have vanilla, so I swapped 1 tbs of water for vanilla-flavoured yogurt. Takes away the vegan-ness, but the cake was dense, slightly minty, and hit the spot.

  16. Alice says:

very yummy although had to add way more water / oil than stated to make it into a batter rather than bread crumbs

Mine was so good! I ate half and it was even better the next day (I notice this with soups and casserole-y things too, maybe the flavors have more time to … happliy combine?) Now i just want to figure out how to do it with peanut butter! :) Thanks again, this was fun and my friends had a blast making their own!! :)

I have no idea how this failed for anyone, it’s about as easy as “making” cereal ;-) I did use dark chocolate almondmilk (Silk brand) instead of water, and i added chocolate chips. I made one tonight and added some almond extract. Yum-my!! Thank you so much for sharing this fun recipe, it’s great on its own and there are so many ways to be creative with it! :)
